Moving into a new apartment for the first time can be fun, but finding enough stuff to fill it up and make it livable and comfortable can be something else! As summer heat turns to autumn’s cool evenings, it is a sure sign that winter is on its way. While you cannot avoid winter, there are some things that you can do to be sure that your home is ready for all of those cold evenings.

Start with the heating system. Let those cool nights serve as a reminder that it is time to service the furnace. Gas and oil furnaces require service more often than electric furnaces or heat pumps, but it will be easier to schedule an appointment now than it will be in two to three months. You want that furnace working at peak performance to save money on the winter heating bill.

Do not forget to change the filters. When heating season is in full force change the filter every thirty days in order to get the best service out of your furnace. A dry wet vacuum is the perfect tool to remove any excess dirt and dust that has built up around the air return.

With the high price of fuel oil, many families are switching to electric heat. A Delonghi space heater is an efficient ceramic heater that allows you to heat just the room where you are spending most of your time. You may still need to have the furnace set at a minimal temperature to keep all the pipes from freezing and bursting at night. Zone heating keeps you comfortable in the one room without using all of that oil for heating your home.

As you think about pipes, be sure that you disconnect any hoses from external outlets. Leaving the hose connected will make it more likely for the pipes to freeze and burst. Wrap external pipes with insulation in order to prevent freezing. Any external irrigation equipment should be disconnected and drained.

Do not forget about pets. This is also the perfect time to get Rover a new dogs bed. Then new bed will provide a nice warm place for him to cuddle up for a winter nap. Make sure that you have a good supply of clean dry towels to dry the dog’s feet when he comes inside the house.

If your home has removable storm windows, then it is time to pull those out of storage and install them before winter hits in force. If you use window air conditioners, they need to be taken out of the windows and stored away for the winter. Check all doors to be sure that weather stripping is intact.

Soccer Coaching Drills

Imagine a scenario where 50% of the soccer coaching drills should adopt development of trapping skills as their focal point. You would probably dismiss it as a fancy. But No! Trapping is the skill which enables a player to catch the ball and keep it close to himself. In such soccer exercises, they can use their feet, chest, and thighs to do so.

You must acquaint your players with this skill of trapping the ball. If the players don’t know how to trap the ball, the primary skill, they would fail to have control over the game. There are a few practices that will prove helpful in improving the trapping skills of players.

Make use of your feet: Make your players learn the primary skill of involving their feet in holding the ball. Especially with younger players in kids soccer drills, it is important to make them use the inside of their foot. The biggest reason for this is that the inside area of the foot is broad and is most helpful in tackling the ball.

Soccer Drills

Use the Chest: Just like the thigh, chest too has a vital role to play in trapping the ball flying high in the air. Teach your players to tackle the ball using their chest by getting in front of the ball and take their chest out. As a result the ball will loose its tempo almost immediately and will fall down at once.

But keep in mind that in soccer training drills, young players are given only a few modest lessons on this technique. When they try to tackle the ball using the chest, it is their normal tendency to use their hands. This practice could lead to a problem by kids getting comfortable using their hands to deal with the ball.

Thus, on “child branches”, the gentleman lists what service each individual provided and how often they provided it. He then approximates the number of hours each person’s service amounted to, and lists the number on “twigs”. Lastly, the man determines the percentage of the total hours of service he received from each person, listing this percentage on more “twigs”. When he has finished his tipping diagram, it looks similar to the attached Mind Map.

Determining the Amount to Tip Each Individual

Now that the man has organized the services each individual he will tip has provided, he can easily determine the tip amount for each person. He simply gives each person a percentage of the total amount he intends to tip corresponding to the percentage of total service the individual provided. While the man could have figured out tip amounts using a standard linear list, the Mind Map made the process more conceptual and efficient. It was much easier for the man to follow his thinking regarding each person’s hours of service and tip amount using the colorful and spatial map diagram. In addition, the Mind Map format allowed him to organize the information in one document, rather than on several pages, as a list would have. The man, therefore, finds that he is able to think through and decide, rather effortlessly, the holiday tip amounts for everyone on his list. He can now cross from his task list, monetarily showing appreciation to those whose help he received off his holiday list.
