First on your surfing holiday itinerary should be the amazing Cocoa Beach in Florida. This beach is home to some classic breaks but you have to make sure your trip is timed right. Go during summer and you might get some excellent waves but you also quite likely to be sitting on your board, bobbing up and down and wondering where all the swell went. Visit in the colder months however and you’re in for a treat. The winter surf is a great deal more reliable and often kicks up swells of close to 10ft. The surf is some of the safest around and the area has a great party vibe going on. This makes it very popular with beginner surfers and people after a but of fun. For the top conditions, pay a visit between November and March
Secondly, it would be criminal not to visit the iconic place where surfing was born. Hawaii has long been known as a surfing paradise. Mainly because it’s home to some of the best and largest waves on earth but also because it embraces surfing so openly. It’s so steeped in surfing history that you would not be blamed for grabbing some wetsuits and spending your whole time in the water, however also visiting historic sites, talking to locals about surfboards, or checking out the thousands of surfboards on sale is also recommended. Well, maybe not the whole time, you need to save some to check out the 20ft waves at Oahu or the miles and miles of beautiful surf at Ehukai Beach and Waimea Beach. Heaven on Earth
Last but not certainly not least, no American surf holiday would be complete without experiencing the “surf city” and land of board shorts, Huntington USA.This places attracts top surfers like bees to honey, probably because the sun never seems to set. Some of the biggest names in surfing spend a lot of their year here and its no surprise there are surf comps going on all the time. It can get quite busy here though, 11 millions visitors per year. So if crowds aren’t you thing, you’re better of enjoying the equally as good winter waves.
