There are so many reasons why you shouldn’t have a New Years bash in the office and part of this comes from experience from the Christmas party and part of this is really just very obvious.

So what are the major reasons?

Drink

Drink is certainly not something that you should mix in the office. Having a couple of drinks is fine but the thing to remember about all of this is just do not go too far. Now that I think about it, I would really suggest having a few drinks with workers over the holiday season because it just makes things more laid back.

Insurance

It had to be mentioned I’m afraid and although the insurance will cover many things that may be damaged from drink, fights and other things I am sure that not all office insurance policies will be happy to fork out hundreds and possibly thousands of pounds because the employees have been careless.

On top of this I will also say that a lot of small business insurance will not even cover you if you spill certain drinks like beer and wine over computers because those types of drinks are not generally acceptable in the work environment.

Personal Experience

This year’s Christmas office party was partly held here and although nothing got broken I certainly feel that if we didn’t move on to the pub when we did there would have been a fair few broken computers. There were drinks coming around from all over the place and I do not think that the bowling alley beers we had previously helped us at all.

However I will say once again that there is nothing wrong with having a few in office games like pool, gaming or of course poker. When you think about it, the only time in which the problems seem to occur is when people take things too far.

Other Options?

Other than staying in the office there are actually many options out there to choose from. You could perhaps go for a paid trip to a restaurant and hit the clubs and all of the employees would happily go out if they know their food is paid for. Something like this is really great as you get to see people for who they really are, a couple of drinks is all it takes really. They certainly shouldn’t use any information they gain from the drinking session against you so make sure this doesn’t happen.

Now it is time for us to provide you with something special to take into next year with you. The holidays are now upon us and we need to get booking those all important holidays for family. The Recession appears to be slowing down, and now we seem to be getting some extra cash, now this year a chance of us buying a holiday has really gone up.

The most important thing to remember is that these holidays may not be the best in the world, but they are the new and up-coming phenomenon. Hurghada has always been a destination that has been popular with the tourist. However now they are becoming more of a niche centre. People that would normally travel to somewhere like Sharm El Sheikh have discovered that they can go to Hurghada, and experience the same sort of thing in a different place. Scuba Diving and free diving is a huge tourist attraction here, and the hotels are of the same luxurious quality as those in Sharm. Hurghada offers camel rides, glass bottomed boats to venture out on and some of the most amazing coral reefs in the world.

The Indian Ocean has always been popular as well, however only up until recently has Sri Lanka been a good option. Sri Lanka was unlucky in that it was battled in Civil war for quite a long time, only recently have tourists been a little safer. This is the place where the Garden of Eden was supposed to be, so many people come here to clear their minds. Sri Lanka has some of the most amazing spa hotels, and this seems to be one of the biggest attractions for some people, and now they even have tours for safaris.

Now when you mention the Caribbean, this does seem like the most obvious answer, but not this particular country. However Cuba is well on its way to becoming one of the biggest holiday locations in the world. When you travel to Cuba, you do feel as though you have taken a step back in time, however the quality of hotels is no different to anywhere else in the world. Cuba is a very powerful island, and it’s reputation from western countries has probably earned it a high stature in the tourist world.

All you need to do is choose one of these holidays, Sri Lanka holidays, Cuba holidays and Hurghada holidays, what do you think?

Why do people really like Sharm El Sheikh and what is so great about? So why is this place so exceptionally sought after, are there specific reasons why it does so well in regards to holiday bookings?

There are two very important factors that make Sharm El Sheikh the tourist location that it is today. The main and biggest reason is the diving capabilities. Many people regard Sharm as one of the best diving locations in the world, and this is for several reasons. The first is that there are an unbelievable amount of Coral reefs in the immediate area, just off the coast in the Red Sea, somewhere actually in the region of about 250! These coral reefs are some of the easiest for divers to access in the world. There are even over 900 species of fish making it a great place for people to explore something new every time they visit here. This makes it a great place for people to view all kinds of different varieties of fish.

All of these diving goodies have brought another form of tourism to the coasts of Sharm El Sheikh; this is called “scientific tourism”. This form of holidaying is for those that like to take notes on new species or collate information on something they have a passion for. These holidays are very popular with travel agents, mainly because the length of someones stay greatly increases.

The next big reason for Sharm becoming such a big tourist attraction is none other than the weather itself. This is one of the warmest and driest places for people to go on holiday. This is one of the places in the world just like the rest of Africa, that receives very little water all year round. Sharm is one of the holidays that is hottest in the world, with temperatures reaching up to 38 degrees throughout the year.

Sharm El Sheikh holidays are brilliant, they are even more popular than Caribbean holidays and Maldives holidays combined! Barbados and St Lucia have to try harder to get noticed!

So you’ve taken the plunge and booked a family ‘get away from it all’ Christmas break… but now you’re realising exactly what you will be ‘away from’ and are wondering how you’ll move the ‘family Christmas at home’ experience to another place!?

Here are our top 10 tips for family friendly holidays at Christmas, to make sure you all have a wonderfully relaxing trip…

1. Involve your children in the travel experience. Get out a map and show them where the family is going. Talk about how far you are travelling – just like Santa himself! Let your children help pack their suit cases and even choose Christmas gifts for members of the family with whom you’ll be holidaying.

2. Make sure they leave a letter behind letting Santa know of their temporary home so he can be sure to find them on Christmas Eve. If Santa will be unable to hop down a chimney, let the kids leave suggestions as to an alternative method for their delivery. And of course, remember to leave out a mince pie and a little tipple (or perhaps a local equivalent!) at your arrival point. He’s sure to be hungry after the extra trip from your house!

3. Find out if the larger online retailers deliver to your destination. You can even get deliveries gift wrapped. Don’t forget to plan for how you’ll get them home! Perhaps try to keep a suitcase or fold away bag empty and keep everyone’s luggage to a minimum (at least you won’t usually need swimming gear at this time of year!) Try to plan gifts that are lightweight and small to pack.

4. If you can’t bring all the gifts, talk about how kids in Europe receive theirs on Epiphany instead. Maybe Santa will accommodate your travel plans and leave smaller than normal packages, or perhaps leave some but with a letter saying that there are some more surprises at home under the Christmas tree.

5. Try to create the same ‘Christmassy’ atmosphere they’ve left behind when you get there – most properties will provide a tree, decorations, etc for Christmas guests.

6. Take some CDs of Christmas songs and stories along for the journey to keep the festive spirit alive en route.

7. Investigate the local Christmas markets or make plans to visit a theme park that opens during the holiday season. Train rides, tours of lights and visits to see Santa are some of the things you can expect to find no matter where you go on baby friendly holidays at Christmas.

8. Pack a small bag of supplies for your tots to decorate your holiday home. Or pop to the local supermarket on arrival to stock up on the makings of some batches of Christmas biscuits or cakes (though you may need to pack a jar of anything exotic from home!)

9. Before you leave, read about how kids celebrate Christmas in other countries.You can perhaps introduce some new traditions during your child friendly holidays, to take home with you for future Christmases.

10. Enjoy the relaxation that being away from your home environment brings – no racing around visiting friends and family, no sale shopping, no ‘let’s use the time off to decorate the spare room’ – just chill out and enjoy time as a family!

Your house is usually the house that most people visit during the holidays, so you’ll want to teach your children all you can about Thanksgiving so that they can learn about more great reasons to celebrate the day.
